CORAL FARMING

Adopt A Coral works with local coral farmers who grow their precious crops sustainably and directly in the ocean on sand beds.

The corals are attached to metal frames in shallow water where they naturally harvest the power of the tropical sunshine.

Mother corals are grown to large sizes and hold tremendous value to the farmers. These can then be propagated into hundreds of miniature corals in a process known as “fragging”.

Once the fragments have grown to a suitable size the healthiest corals are selected for their new homes.
